Motion Graphics:

Create Motion Graphics for Film and Television

This course will introduce students to creating motion graphics for film and television. Specifically we will explore how motion design is utilized in feature film title sequences, film and video game trailer graphics, television broadcast packages, show opens, and popular commercials. Students will receive a crash-course on two essential elements of motion graphics: typography and creating storyboards to present and sell your ideas. Emphasis will be put on design, concept, and ability to communicate. We will also cover the use of After Effects in a production environment as a compositing, animation, and finishing tool for motion graphics. Students will be encouraged to adapt their existing 3D and visual effect skills towards this genre. Students should expect to collaborate on small teams for projects, and leave with finished samples for your reel.
